Piet van Mastrigt, graduated in 1986 with a B.Sc. Mining Engineering and in 1988 with a M.Sc. Technical Geophysics from Delft University in the Netherlands. He joined Shell as a Geophysicist and worked in Oman, Albania, Namibia, Angola, Brazil, US, Saudi Arabia and Brunei. He has held positions of increasing seniority in Geophysical Data Acquisition, Data Processing, Seismic Interpretation, Quantitative Interpretation, Potential fields and Prospect Evaluation. After retiring from Shell as Principal Geophysical Advisor he joined PETRONAS Carigali in 2017 initially in a role as Custodian Petroleum Geosciences and later as Head Technical Assurance and Capability, which included appointment to the Exploration Leadership team and Management Committee. His duties also include Chairman of the Exploration Technical Review Committee and the Resource and Reserves Committee (on behalf of PETRONAS MPM). During his career, van Mastrigt has published 13 scientific articles on topics incl. Long offset acquisition, spectroscopy, magnetotellurics , joint gravity inversion and near surface static solutions.
