Gregory F. Hebertson is a highly successful and distinguished Oil and Gas Executive with over 25 years of experience in exploration, development/asset management, operations, new ventures/business development and technical assurance. He is currently Vice President, Global Exploration for Murphy Oil Corporation. In this role, Mr. Hebertson is responsible for exploration activities across Murphy’s global portfolio and is leading the revival of Murphy’s global exploration business.
Prior to joining Murphy, Mr. Hebertson served in technical, management, and executive roles for Anadarko Petroleum, Talisman Energy, and Midstates Petroleum. Mr. Hebertson’s extensive global experience includes the US onshore, Alaska, Canada, Gulf of Mexico, Latin America, Africa, Middle East, South East Asia, and Australia. Over the course of his career, he has been involved in the discovery of over 1 BBOE of new hydrocarbons around the world and has held asset management responsibility for production, development, and operations in both Alaska and the US Gulf of Mexico.
Mr. Hebertson is passionate about exploration and leading people and organizations in the search for new energy resources around the globe. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Geology from Brigham Young University, as well as business and leadership certifications from Rice University’s Jesse H. Jones School of Management. In 2014, Mr. Hebertson was honoured as a Distinguished Alumnus of the Brigham Young University College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
